2012 U.P. BUILDERS SHOW – MARCH 9-11, 2012

38TH ANNUAL U.P. BUILDERS SHOW * SAME LAYOUT & BOOTH FEES AS LAST YEAR:
The Marquette Builders Exchange and the Upper Peninsula Builders Association invite all new and previous Exhibitors to take part in the 38th Annual U.P. Builders Show at the NMU Superior Dome in Marquette, Michigan, on March 9-11, 2012.
The Show will feature the same booth layout and fees as last year. The main booth set-up for the Show will begin at noon on Thursday, March 8th. Doors will open to the public at 5:00 P.M. on Friday, March 9th. Show hours remain the same as last year. (See back of this sheet.)
BUILDERS SHOW CRITERIA:
Exhibits must be construction related which includes home construction and renovation; architecture and design; interior and exterior contractors; home furnishings, decorators and landscapers; realtors, financial institutions, utility companies and building suppliers.
BOOTH SIZES AND DESIGN:
Please read carefully the "Instructions For Designing Your Booth(s)" on the reverse side of the "Registration & Rental Form". Most single "A" booths measure 12 ft. wide by 12 ft. deep. If necessary, Exhibitors will be given the dimensions and shape of their assigned booth(s), so booth design will be accurate.
Only one Exhibitor per 12 ft. x 12 ft. booth will be allowed. Two Exhibitors in partnership must rent a minimum of two booths; 3 Exhibitors 3 booths, etc. NOTE: Absolutely NO advertising signs or displays from NON-participating vendors will be allowed nor signage or displays from Exhibitors themselves which does NOT pertain to Builders Show criteria.
BEST BOOTH AWARDS * DOOR PRIZES:
BEST BOOTH AWARDS will be presented for Single Booth, Double Booth and Multi-Booth categories. Winners will receive media recognition along with one free single booth for the 2013 Builders Show. Also, participants and spectators may register for DOOR PRIZES with the purchase of an Admission Ticket or Courtesy Pass. Winners need not be present to win.
CENTER OF THE SHOW DISPLAY:
The main focal point of the Builders Show is the 10-booth CENTER DISPLAY which consists of a 24 ft. deep x 60 ft. long x 8 ft. high area. If interested, please call Show Registration at Ph: 906-225-1216 for specific details. A discounted rate of $1,800.00 will be charged for the Center Booth.
OVERHEAD DOOR * LOADING DOCK FOR SEMI-TRAILERS * FORKLIFT VEHICLES:
During set-up and teardown, Exhibitors may need to drive into the Superior Dome through the east side OVERHEAD DOOR. NOTE: The overhead door dimensions are 12 ft. wide x 14 ft. high. However, Exhibitors unloading displays from semi-trailers are strongly encouraged to use the LOADING DOCK on the northeast side. During set-up and teardown, NMU FORKLIFTS WITH DRIVERS will be available on a first come/first serve basis for heavy or bulky displays. NOTE: No outside forklifts or drivers are allowed per Union Rules.
ADMISSION FEES TO THE SHOW:
$3.00 - Adults & Children (13 & Over) $2.00 - Senior Citizens (65 & Over)
$1.00 - Children (6 to 12) Free - Children (5 & Under)
BOOTH DEMONSTRATIONS * MERCHANDISE SALES * OUTDOOR DISPLAY SPOTS * KIDS’ PLAY AREA * SIDEWALK CAFÉ * TRAVELING BEVERAGE & SNACK CART:
Exhibitors may present product DEMONSTRATIONS in their booths. The times and content of these demonstrations shall be left up to the Exhibitors themselves upon approval of the Builders Show Committee. Also, Exhibitors are welcome to SELL MERCHANDISE which relates to their booth display. Sales of unrelated merchandise will NOT be allowed.
Five only OUTDOOR VEHICLE OR EQUIPMENT DISPLAY SPOTS are available for $50.00 each and are available on a first come/first serve basis to registered Exhibitors only. These spots are located at the south entrance, and each one accommodates a large company vehicle, a semi-truck/trailer or equipment display. (See attached "Extra Activities Sign-Up Sheet".) Also provided for customers and Exhibitors will be a KIDS’ PLAY AREA and the Superior Dome’s SIDEWALK CAFE along with NMU’s traveling BEVERAGE/SNACK CART.
TO REGISTER * CASH, CHECKS, CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED:
Please fill in the enclosed "Registration & Rental Form" and, if applicable, the "Extra Activities Sign-Up Sheet". Payment of cash, check, money order or credit card must be turned in with the "Registration & Rental Form". Registrations with credit card information may be faxed to 906-226-7240. No phone registrations will be accepted!
TO LAST YEAR’S EXHIBITORS: YOUR DEADLINE IS JANUARY 20TH AT 5:00 P.M. TO RESERVE SAME BOOTH(S):
If you participated in last year’s Show, you may reserve your same booth space by the deadline of 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2012. Also, requests to move and/or expand booths will be taken on a first come/first serve basis. At 5:00 p.m. on January 20th, move/expand requests will be filled first, and then new Exhibitors will be assigned booths. NOTE: The earlier you register, the more likely your request can be accommodated, but there are NO guarantees that your requests can be filled. NOTE: The January 20th deadline will be strictly enforced!
DRAPES AND 110 ELECTRIC POWER INCLUDED IN FEES:
BLUE ENCLOSURE DRAPES and 110 ELECTRIC POWER are included in booth fees. Exhibitors should bring 50-100 ft. power cords to connect to power poles and wall outlets. During the Show, cords may also be rented at the Dome’s Main Office. NOTE: 220 power costs $25.00.
PAPERWORK REQUIRED BEFORE BOOTH SET-UP ON MARCH 8TH:
Once registered, Exhibitors will be mailed a CONTRACT PACKET which includes 8 items of important paperwork. This paperwork will include an Exhibitor Checklist, a Contract, a Booth Worker List, an Optional Items form, your assigned booth number(s), and other important information. The Checklist will tell you which paperwork must be returned to us before set-up at the Show. This includes the signed Contract, your Worker List, an Insurance Certificate and a Builder’s License, if applicable. All Exhibitors must be insured to participate in the Show, and NO set-up will be allowed unless all required paperwork has been turned in to us.
PLEASE NOTE: "BOOTH CANCELLATION" RULES:
In the event an Exhibitor drops from the Show after registering, a percentage of the paid Registration & Rental Fee will be refunded according to the following schedule: 100% refund through February 7, 2012 and 50% refund from February 8 through February 22, 2012. No refunds will be given after February 22, 2012.
